The holidays always bring that air of cheer, happiness and hope during a time where people need it the most. All this talk about a financial crisis, economic meltdown and tougher times coming, it dampens everyone's spirits to be actually celebrating the holidays. After all, why should we celebrate when our bank accounts are shrinking and our job security is at its most uncertain in years? Sure, all of those may be true, but life certainly does go on. The holiday season can't come at a better time. Improving the way your home looks doesn't have to cost a fortune; we could all do our part in trying to make our homes look better. After all, you wouldn't want to have a gloomy looking home to depress you further in times as harsh as these. And now that the holidays are coming to a close, why not start off the New Year with a clean slate and a fresh outlook on things. 1. Putting on a fresh coat of paint in your home makes things look more cheerful. Nobody likes to look at a home that looks worn down. Such a thing would happen if the paint you have on outside your home were worn out already. Wear and tear affects everything from your car, to your clothes and quite commonly your home. Putting on a fresh coat of paint would make your home look a whole lot better. And despite all this economic trouble brewing, you would at least have the comfort of coming home to a well painted home and a loving family. On an upside though, it is said that tougher economic times bring families closer. So, have you spent some quality time with your family lately? You can even let your whole family get in on the repainting action. It could be a whole day activity that you could spend together. 2. How about changing those busted light bulbs? There's nothing more symbolic than a busted light bulb during this economic trouble. It may not mean a thing to you, but you're actually showing to yourself and to your family that you can't just keep a good man down. We are a strong people and our forefathers have been through much harder times. Keeping a light on during these dark times would mean a lot; you're making a statement that you are better than this, and that you will get through these troubled times with your head above water. And on a lighter note, you're going to have a home that's well lit with no dark corners. 3. Cleaning up your home would be like giving your house a facial. Sometimes, you don't need new appliances to make your home feel and look newer. All you need to do is to clean the dust off of your couch, television set and floor. Cleanliness, as we all may know, is next to godliness. So if we've got a clean home, it'll certainly be a happier home. And as an added benefit, if you have any asthmatic children, they needn't worry about having an attack in their own home any longer. |
