“The home is where the heart is,” that is what most people say. It is the place we keep on looking for wherever we are at anytime of the day. It is where we can be who we are and not care about the many problems of the world. But what makes the home a home, aside from your loving family and a nice, comfy bed waiting to be lied on? Well, a home is a home because there are things inside it that are of your own design and liking. Sometimes we purchase a house, but can never call it a home because you are not happy within it. So how can you transform your house into a home? One important answer to this is to brighten up your home in whatever way you want to. Not “brighten” taken literally, but the “brighten” which means you add things up to your home to make it livelier and to add to that homey atmosphere. Here are tips that are sure to help you in getting that big area of yours into the home you have always wanted. a) Give up those dull lights for those which are decorations in themselves. Fluorescent lights indeed suffice for the lighting, but do you not find it boring? How about purchasing those decorative lamps that are sure to not only give light to the room but also contribute to the beauty of it. Why not get a ceiling fan on top of that dining table? That is sure to look good and also keep those flies away from the table. Another thing is, if you want to add some uniqueness to your room, put on some lights that light up during brownouts or blackouts. Do not settle for flashlights; these emergency lights are sure to be useful. Additionally, it is not only the inside of your home that needs some lighting up. How about your gate on your front door? Have some street lamps or lanterns to make sure you see your visitors at night. b) Love to cook? Make a kitchen and design it the way your heart wishes. Aspiring to be a chef or just cooking for fun? Make your kitchen a place where you are most comfortable to cook. Put on that stainless sink that is up to your style and install a filter to make sure you get clean water out of that sink. And if you want hot water in a jiffy, purchase a water heater which is very convenient and effective. Furthermore, make sure you have all you need in your kitchen; all the baking pans, cutters with different designs, muffin pans, cookie sheets and many more. c) The room says a lot of things about its owner. Have furniture that you personally choose. Put a cabinet for your clothes and a drawer for your personal belongings. These are not only important for keeping your stuff in but also for your bedroom design. For your bed, get one which fits the room. If you share a room with your siblings, get a double deck bed; that is sure to be fun and can save a lot of room space. |
