Have you ever noticed how certain rooms have different effects on you? There are some that just make you feel like you're at home while others sometimes even make you feel nauseous. There are also other rooms wherein you feel uncomfortable staying in for some apparent reasons that may or not be that obvious to you. Chances are, it's the way a room is designed that gives its impression to you in different ways. Any good designer knows that what he puts inside a room would affect the person who stays in it whether he just stays in there for a few minutes to even a couple of hours. As always, it is best that we always make the rooms in our homes as comfortable and as cozy as it can be. But how do we do it? It's quite easy actually. Just follow these few steps if you're interested. This may not be a complete guide, but at least it will get you started. 1. Be careful as to what color you would be using in that specific room. You may or may not have heard of this, but the color one sees in a room can actually have a psychological effect on the observed person. When trying to make a cozy room, check first on the colors you're going to paint the wall with. These might actually give you the opposite of cozy; guests and other people who may use that specific room may end up restless or worked up. You can search the internet for room colors and their psychological effect on whomever it is that stays in that room. Think of it this way; have you ever seen a hospital with bright colored paint on their walls aside from white? Perhaps, not. 2. Try placing a couple of paintings and picture frames on the wall. There's nothing like a good painting that can make a room seem a whole lot cozier. Pictures and frames and other kinds of art being hung on a wall will not only be a very good conversation starter, it will actually make users in that specific room feel more relaxed and comfortable depending on the type of picture or frame that's mounted on the wall. Try it out for yourself and feel the difference. Stay in a room in your home with no paintings; you might find that it's quite difficult to get used to that room. 3. Make sure you place furniture that will give them comfort. There's nothing that says cozy than a really comfortable bed or couch placed in whatever room it is needed in. After all, these are the furniture that we spend a lot of time on. Whether it's sitting and watching TV or lying down while enjoying a good book, the type of furniture you put in one's room will definitely dictate the amount of comfort and coziness one may experience in a specific room. Go with big beds and super comfortable couches; these really won't let you down. |
